My name is Jamie Ramirez. I’ve been doing hair since 2008. I really love that hairdressing has given me the ability to create hair that will bring out the best in every client. While taking additional color & cut classes, I realized how much I enjoyed sharing my knowledge with others. I was inspired to become an educator and for 6 years taught the latest techniques to other hairdressers and assistants. Teaching allowed me to help build up our industry and I enjoyed making learning fun. Hairdressing has given me so many opportunities: to meet fantastic clients, connect with likeminded stylists, and support a career in academia. After finishing my Masters degree in entomology at the University of California, Riverside, in August 2023 I moved to Flagstaff to pursue a PhD degree in Biology with a focus on insect systematics. My long term goal is to become a professor at a research university and mentor other nontraditional students. I believe continuing to learn, in any field, is important and I can’t wait to share my knowledge with everyone while continuing to creating beautiful hair.
